Markus Englmair is an Austrian filmmaker based in New York City. He discovered his passion for filmmaking as a young teen and has been creating ever since. Markus studied multimedia art and film production in Salzburg, Austria, and then completed his MFA in screenwriting & directing at Columbia University. He has worked professionally as a writer, director and cinematographer on films that have played at esteemed film festivals worldwide.
In 2018, Markus co-founded the Brooklyn-based creative agency Filmkraft and has shot, directed and produced numerous commercials and music videos for known bands, brands and start-ups.
Markus is currently writing a dark comedy series, NULL, for London-based Big Talk Productions. Additionally, he is co-writing The Fires: Love and Other Disasters, an Icelandic feature film to be directed by Ugla Hauksdóttir. In 2021, Markus sold a pilot to NBCUniversal, and his feature film The Pond is currently out to actors.
